Product Description

Prepared for the Nevada Construction Business and Law Exam as a study guide and open book reference.

The general business and law or “CMS” exam is open book and this book is allowed to be taken with you when you sit for the exam.

The book is organized into 3 sections.

Part 1 focuses on business planning and start up. This section will help you formulate a business plan, choose a business structure, understand licensing and insurance requirements and gain basic management and marketing skills.

Part 2 is centered on fundamentals that you will need to operate a successful construction business. This section will cover estimating, contract management, scheduling, project management, safety and environmental responsibilities and building good relationships with employees, subcontractors and customers.

Part 3 gives you valuable information for running the administrative function of your business. Financial management, tax basics and lien laws are covered. Effective management of these areas of business is vital and can cause serious problems if you do not give them the proper attention.

Spiral Bound.

    Terrible book construction

Posted by Unknown on Jan 28th 2018

The book contains the necessary information but the actual construction of the book is cheap. My wire binding which holds covers and pages in order wound its way out and created a mess. I was lucky my contractors school provided me with a new book at no cost.

    Binding came loose

Posted by blair on Jan 3rd 2018

I kept the book on a desk at my home. I was going to study 3 days before the test and the binding came loose and I could not turn the pages. I made numerous attempts to fix the book (at a cost to me) and ended up buying individual clear folders from Dollar General so I could take the exam. This cost me study time and also had to drive to the testing location early to get book approved for testing. I ordered a new book because I did not pass exam and no one seemed to care about giving me a discount or what I feel should be a free replacement.

    Well organized and simply written

Posted by Christopher Griffin on Dec 26th 2017

The review should come after the book is thoroughly read, but they are asking me to review it now. it seems to be written in an easily understandable manner.

I have not taken the test yet so I am not sure how relevant it is to passing the test.
