This is a 160-item online self-assessment practice test (SAE) that mirrors content and complexity specifications for the NBRC’s Specialty Examination for Respiratory Therapists Performing Sleep Disorders Testing and Therapeutic Intervention. Developed by the examination committee, the SAE helps prepare test takers, credentialed practitioners, and students who want to measure and improve test performance.

The actual Specialty Examination for Respiratory Therapists Performing Sleep Disorders Testing and Therapeutic Intervention contains a total of 180 items (160 scored items and 20 pretest items). The self-assessment examination does not contain any pretest items.

When you finish the practice test, you will receive a detailed score report including explanations. The explanation for each option starts with a code that defines the intent behind the option. Option codes are defined below and will be included in the post-test Feedback Report.

h = a response that could harm the patient
u = a response that is not correct
a = a response that could be acceptable, but is not the best among the four options
c = the response that is the best among the four options and credited as correct
